From 1945 until 1996, 50 years later, Tempel was primarily a Chicago-based company with all of its operations within Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois. In 1996, Tempel began its international expansion, first by the acquisition of BCL in Canada, a competitor in the lamination business, and then in 1998 with the construction of a greenfield plant in Monterrey, Mexico. Since then we have extended our reach beyond Canada, the U.S., and Mexico with plants in Changzhou, China and Chennai, India. We continue to discover that the value proposition for customers, which Tempel established in that first half century, has currency beyond North America.

As we all know, the global marketplace has asked many industrial companies to make their products and services available for markets across the world and to bring new standards of quality and service to developing countries. At Tempel, we welcome the challenge to teach and to learn. Although the world was much simpler in 1945, there are some basic Tempel values that are just as important today.

  1. The never-ending quest for improved productivity, quality, and speed of manufacturing and delivery. We are in “the productivity business” for our customers.
  2. The design and utilization of the best precision stamping  tools (dies) available in the world guided by our internal tool engineering capability and plant floor experience.
  3. Continuing pursuit for the best machinery and equipment available for our plants.
  4. The sourcing and utilization of the highest quality and best cost steels available in the world for electrical applications.
  5. The finding, training, and retaining of the best talent for our teams all around the world.

We look forward to being of service to you.
