Tempel Canada Opens New Manufacturing Facility
New facility expands transformer core manufacturing capacity, creates nearly 100 jobs and supports demand for electrical infrastructure across North America
COLUMBUS, OHIO (June 25, 2026) – Worthington Steel, Inc. (NYSE: WS) this week celebrated the opening of a new 250,000-square-foot Tempel Canada manufacturing facility in Burlington, Ontario. The approximately $85 million investment is expected to strengthen North America’s electrical infrastructure supply chain, support growing customer demand and create nearly 100 new jobs.
The new facility more than doubles Tempel Canada's manufacturing footprint and significantly expands production of transformer cores and precision electrical steel laminations, essential components used in transformers that power homes, businesses, industries and critical infrastructure across North America. The expansion comes as demand for electrical infrastructure continues to grow, driven by grid modernization, electrification, artificial intelligence and data centers.
“We’ve seen firsthand how demand for electrical infrastructure has evolved over the last decade, and our customers continue to look for partners that can grow alongside them,” said Geoff Gilmore, president and CEO of Worthington Steel. “This investment reflects our commitment to meeting those needs while creating opportunities for our employees and strengthening our position in a market where we see significant long-term growth.”
The grand opening celebration brought together customers, suppliers, government officials, employees and their families to recognize this significant milestone for Tempel Canada and Worthington Steel. The event included facility tours, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and activities showcasing the company’s expanded capabilities and continued commitment to serving customers across North America.
